In assessing the ratings used by the big three - Moody's, Standard & Poor's and Fitch. As the newspaper notes, the big winners in 2010 were banks that were able to increase capital and reduce the amount of overdue debts. "Now customers around the world more than ever pay attention to the long-term credit ratings of banks. The list includes banks which increased their liquid assets, as well as increased their capital by improving its quality," - says Global Finance publisher Joseph Dzharraputo.
The list of 2010 included 28 European banks, 11 North American, six Asian, four Australian and New Zealand Bank 1. Among European banks dominated by Germany and France, with a list of six banks. Netherlands and the UK have 3 bank, Spain - 4 banks. Especially important is the top ten which includes four German, three Dutch and one bank of Switzerland, France and Canada.

Rating in 2010 added three new banks - the British Barclays, the German Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg and the Dutch Nederlandse Waterschapsbank, to replace retired - Portugal Caixa Geral de Depositos, Norwegian DnB NOR Bank and respected by all Swiss UBS. Also, significant changes in comparison with 2009 affected several banks. The biggest drop has undergone Deutsche Bank, losing just 11 positions and moving to 39th place. BNP Paribas also declined significantly in the rankings, moving from 9th to 18th place. Two Swedish bank Nordea and Svenska Handelsbanken have moved down from the 21st to the 27th and 23rd to 29th place, respectively. It is worth paying attention to the Swiss bank Credit Suisse, which made a sharp leap upward by 17 positions, moving from 43rd to 26th place. Also worth noting is the Dutch Bank Nederlandse Waterschapsbank, which was not in the ranking in 2009, and in the new rankings, he immediately took the eighth place.
